The BCR Tiger Cub Academy, is designed for children ages 5 to 7 to get their start in auto racing at the Claremont Motorsports Park.
In total we have 24 karts. We include with your kart, the use of a driving suit, neck brace, gloves, arm restraints and in some cases driving shoes if we have the appropriate size for your child. Driving shoes however are not required per track rules as regular high top sneakers are acceptable. We do ask however that you provide your own helmet.
You are welcome to paint, letter, decal and decorate the kart however you or your child chooses. This includes painting the body and chassis, changing the number and graphics and adding your own sponsor logos! Prior to the start of the season BCR will fit each driver to their own kart, set the kart up on a pair of digital racing scales, and provide an overview of all the maintenance points to each team member.
Team members are also responsible for transporting their kart to and from the track on a weekly basis as well as maintaining the kart between races as BCR does not have the capability to transport 20 plus karts to the track weekly.
You DO NOT need an enclosed trailer as the karts will easily fit in the bed of a truck or on an open landscape or snowmobile type trailer. Maintenance simply involves checking the oil, cleaning and lubing bearings, checking that all bolts are still tight and adding fuel, nothing major. Each team member is also responsible for repairing or replacing any damaged parts that are incurred during race events. This would typically include bent wheels, cut tires, bent or broken bumpers, tie rods, heim joints and spindles. We are not concerned about small scratches or blemishes. We only ask that items be replaced that are beyond repair.
For customer's convenience BCR has a fully stocked trailer with all the replacement parts one might need including engines, clutches, axles, bumpers, nerf bars, wheel, tires, hubs, spindles, bearings, tie rods and more. We do charge a small fee for the use of the kart throughout the season. These funds are used to rebuild the motor, replace bearings, brakes pads, seat belts and other items that are not typically replaced on a weekly basis during the race season.
The cost is $65 per race for the full 15 race season, which equates to only $975! Payment is due in full prior to picking up the kart at the beginning of the season but we will gladly reserve your child's spot in the program with just a $200 deposit, which of course goes towards the total $975. Full season team members receive a BCR Tiger Cub Academy team t-shirt and BCR will also work with Five Star Racewear to have a custom, personalized merchandise and apparel line set up for each driver at no additional cost. This includes hats, t-shirts, sweat shirts, stickers, mugs, plush blankets and more! A 20% commission of all sales from your driver's merchandise line will go directly back to you and your team as sponsorship dollars to aid in weekly expenses. At the end of the race season we hold our annual Appreciation Party for all team members. This includes music, games, lunch, desert, a raffle, and gifts for all drivers.
